What kind of radios do you use out on the road?
I now have a Stryker SR-955HPC+ 10 Meter Radio with 100+ Watts PeP - Includes AM / FM / SSB / WX Modes
Then I also have my Wouxun KG-1000G Plus GMRS Base/Mobile Two Way Radio
I also carry 2 Baofeng UV-5R Dual Band FM Transceiver Radios
Then I have my Wouxun KG-UV9PX HAM Two-Way Radio & SHTF Scanner
The Stryker is my normal everyday use radio that is on all the time the truck is moving.
My Wouxun KG-1000G is My GMRS radio in the truck. I sometimes use that when the escort either do not have a radio or they do not know anything about radios and theirs does not work very well. That is where the two Baofengs come into play. I have them set up with only 5 channels. All locked up. Then those 5 channels I have on my Wouxun. I give those to the front and rear escorts. So now we can talk with out anything else bothering us at all. They work out really great.
The Wouxun KG-UV9PX Ham I only use as a scanner. I might have that on when we are using the Baofengs to see if anyone else is on that channel. I do not have a Ham license so I DO NOT TALK on it.. I do have my GMRS license WRXC298
The baofengs are really cheap radios, $20.00. I figure they have already paid for them selves. So if they break or get left with the escort, That is no big deal.
