It was not something that we ever wanted to hear. After all, our little girl, is a 6 year old min pin. She’s just a baby. We thought we had been doing good, but the vet said that she was worried about her liver.
We immediately asked what we could do to improve her health and make sure that she stays with us for a long while. She is our life, our love, our baby girl.
We were told that we should start her on Denmarin tablets as soon as possible and see if that improves her health. We were also told to cut down on her food because she has definitely gotten chunky. Just well loved and spoiled rotten, but not good for her health.
She is losing weight slowly and is on a better diet. She still wants more, but we have to remind ourselves that this is for her own good and that we cannot give in. She seems to be able to handle the Denmarin without any adverse reactions. But getting her to take that pill is a journey in itself.
I literally have to wrap her up in a blanket to keep her from scratching, pushing, and running off. Then when I put the pill in her mouth, if I don’t get it far enough back, she spits it out. Then the fight is on. Trying to get a wet pill into a dogs mouth is not fun. I swear at times she smiles and laughs at me when we go through this. But if this will help her, I will keep going until she gets the pill down.
