    Trucker Packing List

A comprehensive truck driver packing list should include safety equipment, clothing, food and water, entertainment, and essential documentation. It's important to be prepared for various situations on the road, including emergencies, and to maintain a comfortable and efficient workspace.

    Here's a detailed breakdown:

    Safety & Emergency:
    • Emergency Kit: A well-stocked kit is crucial. Include a first-aid kit, flashlight with extra batteries, reflective triangles or flares, a pocket knife, and basic tools like a tire pressure gauge and jumper cables.
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Gloves, safety glasses, a reflective vest, and work boots are essential for safety during loading, unloading, and inspections.
    • Fire Extinguisher: A small, readily accessible fire extinguisher is recommended. Must be trucker rated.
    • Emergency Water and Non-Perishable Food:Pack enough to last a few days in case of unexpected delays. Canned foods are good for this.

    Clothing:
    • Work Clothes: Pack comfortable, durable clothing suitable for various weather conditions. Include work boots, jeans or durable pants, shirts, and outerwear like jackets and sweatshirts.
    • Underwear and Socks: Pack a generous supply of underwear and socks, especially for long trips. Consider laundry bags for dirty clothes.
    • Sleepwear: Pack comfortable clothing for sleeping in the truck.
    • Footwear: Include work boots, comfortable walking shoes, and shower shoes.
    • Gloves: Bring gloves for different weather conditions and different activities. Rubber gloves for use when fueling. Those pumps are nasty.
    • Sunglasses: Protect your eyes from the sun.

    Food and Water:
    • Non-Perishable Snacks: Granola bars, nuts, dried fruit, and jerky are good options for quick energy.
    • Meals: Consider packing ingredients for simple meals that can be prepared in the truck (e.g., using a microwave or portable stove). Some crockpots have lockable lids so you can use them also. Use caution if you have a pet in the truck with you.
    • Water: Stay hydrated with plenty of water, and consider a reusable water bottle.

    Entertainment & Comfort:
    • Electronics: Chargers for your phone, tablet, and other devices are essential. Consider a 12-volt cooler and fan for temperature control.
    • Reading Material: E-readers or audiobooks can help pass the time on long drives. Usually not something to do going down the road. Books for when you are stopped for the night are good.
    • Entertainment: Bring a laptop, small tv, small dvd player, or tablet for movies or games.
    • Headphones: For listening to music, audiobooks, or podcasts.

    Documentation:
    • CDL and Medical Card: Keep these readily accessible for inspections.
    • Vehicle Registration and Insurance: Ensure you have all necessary paperwork for the truck and it is all up to date.
    • Logbook or ELD: Comply with hours of service regulations. Some states still mandate that you keep a logbook handy in case the eld quits working.
    • Route Planning: GPS and navigation apps are essential for planning routes and avoiding delays. Also for keeping you on route if oversized.

    Other Essentials:
    • Toiletry Kit: Include soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and other personal hygiene items.
    • Laundry Supplies: Detergent, softener, and a laundry bag can make laundry chores much easier.
    • Cleaning Supplies: Disinfectant wipes, paper towels, and trash bags are useful for keeping the truck clean. Keep grocery bags for holding trash also.
    • Cash and Checks: Have some cash on hand as a backup payment option. Checks or debit card will also come in handy.
    • Vehicle Maintenance Supplies: Include items like oil, coolant, and a tire repair kit. A wrench, screwdriver, and socket set may come in handy also.
Depending on your particular job, you may need to bring other items. You will figure this out when you begin the job.
