Oversize load given two out of service orders after three stops in 24 hour period

An oversize load was given two out of service orders after three stops in 24 hours over the Labor Day weekend.

The incident occurred over 24 hours during the long Labor Day Weekend in northwestern Ontario, Canada.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, the 24-year-old truck driver hauling an oversize load was stopped by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) three times in the span of 24 hours, leading to 19 provincial offenses notices and two out of service orders for the commercial vehicle.

Some of the issued offenses were related to the excessive width and length of the load, failure to ensure performance standards are met, and driving a commercial motor vehicle without the required inspection.

“Safety laws aren’t optional,” OPP wrote in a post. “Both the driver and the transport company are now facing court summonses and will be held accountable for the many infractions they chose to ignore.”

Most oversized loads are not allowed to transport during holiday weekends in the United States. A few states may allow it, but not many. This was in Canada. Not sure of their travel allowances.
